I woke up this morning around 6 AM, woke is actually not accurate, more like woken up by my dog Star throwing all 60 lbs of fluffy body onto the bed and barking into my face until I slithered out of bed. Today is interesting because yet again my idyllic magical marsh finds itself visited by severe tropical storms due to the latest Hurricane visiting the Florida Gulf Coast. I just hit brew on the coffee maker when my phone gave me a imminent tornado warning followed by my wife, who was in the process of driving our kid to school calling me for advice about turning around and keeping her home. As exciting and novel as all of this weather is to my Southern Californian sensibilities the reality is that I’m looking outside my window right now and there’s just a slight sprinkle or rain and no wind. Of course, the heavy stuff is expected to hit us this evening. I imagine
finding my weather excitement funny, him being a long term resident of the swampy south. The Podcast
The Deceneus Review is coming along great, exceeding all of my expectations. The positive feedback, downloads, and conversations started and maintained around the project amaze me. Thank you, guys, for listening.
This week is one of the designated off weeks. After discussing it with
the best thing to do is try to do every other week Wednesday conversations. This allows us to maintain a healthy momentum and build up enough topics of interest in between. Of course I am doing interviews, solo episodes, and everything else in between. This means that all of you have time to catch up on older episodes or start with the first and be part of the Year One experience. Starting with the latest episode, and going back is a great way to listen.
Upcoming Episodes
The next few weeks will be packed with new guests and great conversation. Some of the episodes to keep an eye out for:
- and the Pilum Press crew will join me to discuss the recently released sequel to his amazing novel Shagduk. JB is great and I recommend listening to episode 7 if you aren’t familiar with his work.
- will join us for a long planned, much delayed, highly anticipated episode. This one should be good. West Coast vs East Coast, L.A. vs NYC, East Coast vs Best Coast, and of course Ohio and Florida.
A previous friend of the podcast, prior substacker, international literary man of mystery will be returning.
A lot of cool guests lined up. If I didn’t have a full time job I could probably do several episodes per week.
A Humble Request
The Deceneus Review is my independent project and it’s nothing without you guys the listeners. Like I’ve said many times I’m imagining this thing we have here being akin to a table at a great local coffee shop, where interesting, intelligent, characters can grab a seat and have a good conversation with anyone and everyone. In order to keep this going, me and the regulars like
need some help. What can you do to help?
