Watching Dredd (2012) right now. It’s 1000% cyberpunk. Interesting to see the cop side of things. I’m sure he’s gonna come across police corruption. I’m also pretty sure that he comes across a bad guy that’s not so bad, or a gray character.
Cyberpsychosis is a very natural progression in cyberpunk world. It’s possibility of occurrence seems very reasonable. I think there’s a definite analogy to be found in tech and social media obsessed people.
That take on the very wealthy, that they produce nothing and are parasites. Homeless or jobless full time drug addicts are the same (creation of their circumstances aside).
In an ideal society, everyone has to contribute something.
Originally, I made a male character. 5 minutes into the game, I remade a female character. I love hot punk rock chicks since I was into the punk scene as a kid. The choice was clear. Chica I made is hot af lol.
I can't wait to listen to this. Amazing how Cyberpunk went from the biggest flop in gaming history to one of the GOATs
V2.0 baby
Altered Carbon? Snow Crash.
I’ve read Altered Carbon but never got around to Snow Crash.
Snow Crash isn't Stephenson's best, but it's a very fun read. Much more sense of humor than typical cyber punk
The good old days. Back before courtesy blue screens. When the public was trusted to witness the unadulterated noise of the universe.
Another awesome episode Alex. Always enjoy listening to you guys.
This is the most normal podcast I listen too. It's refreshing.

…and cyberpsychosis (in genre) seems to be tied to either A) too many cyber implants or B) organic rejection of implant(s)
Again, the modern day analog exits with technology. Just doesn’t mix well with some people.

Been waiting for this one

From Daniel Dennett's "Where Am I?" (1976):
"Now that I’ve won my suit under the Freedom of Information Act, I am at liberty to reveal for the
first time a curious episode in my life that may be of interest not only to those engaged in research
in the philosophy of mind, artificial intelligence, and neuroscience but also to the general public.
Several years ago I was approached by Pentagon officials who asked me to volunteer for a highly
dangerous and secret mission. In collaboration with NASA and Howard Hughes, the Department
of Defense was spending billions to develop a Supersonic Tunneling Underground Device, or
STUD. It was supposed to tunnel through the earth’s core at great speed and deliver a specially
designed atomic warhead “right up the Red’s missile silos,” as one of the Pentagon brass put it.
The problem was that in an early test they had succeeded in lodging a warhead about a mile
deep under Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they wanted me to retrieve it for them. “Why me?” I asked. Well,
the mission involved some pioneering applications of current brain research, and they had heard of
my interest in brains and of course my Faustian curiosity and great courage and so forth … . "

Shout out Clavell novels. Taipan. Noble house.
TaiPan and Noble House are my two favorites.
My dad was big into Clavell. Followed suit, naturally. Clavell was great at making politics and subversion exciting.
Shout out Ghost in the Shell. Movies. Stand Alone Complex. Far and away my favorite anime. The SAC 2045 was so good. Everyone shit on it.

This is the newest Ghost in the Shell. For fucks sake, the first episode even starts in desert outside the city..just like Cyberpunk 2077.
I love how cyberpunk themed shows and movies pay homage to the genre, and it’s never called “ripping off” other movies.
P.S. Your film-noir take, as being a common element of the entire genre, is so good. Wish I had this kind of insight lol
